Cracking Barbel For Adrian Eves
Geplaatst Wit Vis Nieuws at Jul 15, 2011
Dynamite’s Adrian Eves enjoyed a fantastic session in search of barbel recently, landing 5 beards to a very satisfying 10lb 1oz.
Adrian takes up the story:
"For the first summer in many years I decided to have a go for barbel on the Kennet, which I normally target in the winter. To say things got off to a great start would be an understatement!
I fished a long glide where I could present a bait just above a tree which was across the river and had formed a classic barbel and chub swim. I used a hair rigged a Dynamite Baits pre-drilled 10mm Robin Red Pellet wrapped with a little bit of Dynamite Marine Halibut Paste.
In the feeder I used Robin Red Stick Mix, Frenzied Garlic Hempseed and Silver X Explosive Feeder Groundbait.
On just my second cast I was into a barbel, which weighed about 7 lbs. This was then followed up by a small chub, plus some nice roach up to about 1lb.
In the few hours leading up to dusk the barbel moved in and I had four more. These fish were all wild fighters, and the best of the batch – a stunning 10lb 1oz specimen – really had me hanging on as it ploughed up and down through my swim.
My decision to have a go for the summer barbel really paid off with the most barbel I've had in a session in several years"
