I first discovered angling when I was 6 years old, ever since then I’ve been hooked, I started out as most of us do with the match fishing then the fish got bigger and bigger and so did my ambitions.

Name: Ben cooper

Also known as: Coops

Hometown: Ware

Occupation: Bricklayer

Age: 27

UK PB mirror: 44lb 4oz

UK PB common: 42lb 4oz

Foreign PB carp: 88lb (Eric’s Common)

Other PB’s: EU mirror 63lb 8oz

Favourite boilies: The Source & CompleX-T

Most used rigs: Hinge stiff, Blowback Snowman

Venues fished: Lea Valley Waters, Cassien, Rainbow, Orient

Favourite venue: UK – Abbotts Lake, EU – Rainbow Lake

Most memorable trip: I can think of a few but there was one at rainbow where I managed 5 60lb+ fish all on the bounce

Highlight of angling career: Catching Eric’s Common at 88lb just shy of the world record at the time

Fish you would most like to catch: Chub Common (Abbotts), Bite Mark (Stoneacres), Burghfield Common

Aim in angling: To keep trying to  catch my target fish keep trying to beat PB’s and keep meeting and making good friends along the way

Top carp fishing tip: Never give up stay keen and safe, but most importantly watercraft keep them eyes on the water
